Advance green transit: electrify buses and fleets, add EV chargers, and support affordable shared mobility. Improve street and highway safety: safer crossings, protected bike lanes, traffic calming, and targeted redesigns. Complete first-/last-mile connections for the Purple Line and other projects with feeder services, safe walking access, secure bike parking, and on-demand shuttles. Prioritize equity so low‑income and transit‑dependent residents get measurable benefits. Coordinate regional planning and funding for long-term maintenance, climate resilience, and disability access. At a time when immigrant families across the country face increasing attacks on their rights and freedoms, Maryland has chosen a different path. Together, we have advanced landmark protections that safeguard personal information, strengthen trust between communities and government, uphold due process, and ensure that families can live, work, and contribute to our state without fear. From strengthening data privacy protections that prevent sensitive information from being weaponized against immigrant families, to advancing the Community Trust Act and limiting participation in harmful federal immigration enforcement programs, Maryland has demonstrated that public safety and immigrant protections go hand in hand. We have also taken steps to prohibit local participation in 287(g) agreements, preventing local resources from being diverted into federal immigration enforcement activities that erode community trust. Most recently, Maryland has continued to build on these successes through measures such as the No Kings Act and additional privacy protections that reinforce fundamental constitutional rights and protect residents from government overreach. These policies recognize a simple truth: every person deserves due process, dignity, and equal protection under the law. The combination of these efforts has made Maryland a blueprint for the nation. We are proving that states can protect immigrant communities while building safer, healthier, and more connected neighborhoods. When families feel safe reporting crimes, seeking healthcare, enrolling their children in school, and participating in civic life, everyone benefits. While we have achieved significant progress, our work is not finished. I remain committed to protecting these hard-fought victories from political attacks and continuing to expand protections for immigrant families. That includes strengthening privacy rights, defending due process, preventing family separation, ensuring access to critical services, and advancing policies that allow every Marylander to thrive regardless of where they were born. Recent reports show shortages of primary care providers and an uninsured rate nearly double the state average. As your Delegate and a member of the Health Committee in Annapolis, I am working to change that. What I’m doing in Annapolis: Advocating for policies that expand access to care across Prince George’s County, with a particular focus on underserved neighborhoods and communities of color. Championing investments in primary care and workforce development so residents can see providers close to home. Supporting legislation to expand mental health services, integrate behavioral health into primary care settings, and strengthen community-based treatment options. Leading efforts to develop a comprehensive state response to long COVID — including diagnostics, treatment pathways, rehabilitation services, and supports for people who cannot work because of persistent symptoms. Pushing for senior-focused reforms to lower the cost of prescription drugs, improve access to dental and hearing services, and design programs that reduce out-of-pocket burdens for older adults. Single-payer and the future of healthcare in Maryland, I support legislation to establish a universal, single-payer healthcare system in Maryland because it offers the clearest path to guaranteed coverage and lower overall costs. A single-payer model would: Ensure everyone in Maryland has health insurance regardless of income, employment, or preexisting conditions. Simplify administration and reduce overhead by replacing multiple private plans and billing systems with a unified public financing structure. Enable stronger, more equitable purchasing power to lower drug prices and negotiate better rates for services. Prince George’s County deserves a health system that promotes prevention, treats illness promptly, and supports recovery without bankrupting families. Data shows a consistent and alarming rise in temperatures, sea levels, and extreme weather. The climate harms our health, economy, and communities — and the economic calculus is clear: investing in sustainable energy now costs far less than paying for future climate damages. As your Delegate, I will: Defend and strengthen Maryland’s pollution and emissions standards to hold polluters accountable and reduce greenhouse gases. Invest in clean energy infrastructure — including community solar, energy-efficient public buildings, and grid upgrades — to create local jobs and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Prioritize stewardship and conservation by protecting wetlands, urban tree canopy, and other natural buffers that mitigate flooding and heat. Oppose large-scale data center projects that would significantly increase energy demand and strain our grid unless they meet strict, enforceable climate-neutral standards and provide clear community benefits. Push for equitable transition policies so workers and neighborhoods affected by industrial development have access to training, good-paying clean energy jobs, and community-led planning. Prince George’s County must be part of the climate solution, not a hub for unchecked energy-intensive development. I will fight to ensure our state grows sustainably, protects public health, and leaves a healthier environment for future generations.
